How to Use the Roof Pitch Calculator

Roof Pitch Formula
Roof Pitch = Rise ÷ Run
Roof pitch is commonly expressed as the amount of rise for every 12 inches of horizontal run. For example, a roof that rises 6 inches for every 12 inches of run has a 6:12 pitch.
Example
If a roof rises 6 inches over a 12-inch run, the roof pitch is 6:12, the slope is 50%, and the roof angle is approximately 26.57°.
